Donizetti’s ‘The Elixir of Love’ Bath Opera

Bath Opera presents Donizetti’s much-loved comic opera The Elixir of Love in a sparkling OperaCorto production – great opera in just 90 minutes, with a 30-minute interval. Sung in English and accompanied by piano, this lively adaptation tells the charming story of the shy Nemorino, who believes a mysterious “love potion” will help him win the heart of the witty and independent Adina. But the travelling salesman Dulcamara may not be quite the miracle-worker he claims to be… Packed with romance, humour and glorious melodies – including the famous aria Una furtiva lagrima – this joyful production is perfect for both seasoned opera lovers and those discovering opera for the first time. This performance at The Strode Theatre takes place on Sunday 28th June at 2.30pm. Following the success of Bath Opera’s recent productions, praised by audiences for their “wonderful singing” and “terrific energy”, The Elixir of Love promises a delightful summer evening of music, comedy and love.
