Four estranged cousins inherit a house and discover a lost impressionist masterpiece in this time hopping story of art and ancestry. As the distant relatives explore the forgotten rooms of the crumbling Normandy farmhouse, they uncover letters and photographs that transport them back to 1895 Paris. As they retrace the steps of their ancestor Adèle, a young woman who crossed paths with Monet, Victor Hugo and Sarah Bernhardt, witnessing the rise of photography and the birth of impressionism, their perspectives on life begin to shift. Weaving together present-day introspection with Belle Epoque era art and revolution, director Cédric Klapisch (The Spanish Apartment trilogy) constructs a witty and visually resplendent time-travelling drama, brought to the screen with a superb ensemble cast.
