In this much anticipated multi award-winning film, street-wise and beyond his years, Zain lives and works with his family in the slums of Beirut. But when his parents sell his sister into marriage, he runs away. Alone on the streets, his resentment builds and when he is arrested for a stabbing, he decides to sue his parents for bringing children into such a world.

“Proving herself an astonishingly accomplished director of non-professional performers as well as a measured storyteller, Labaki (Caramel) draws attention to the plight of children in Beirut’s slums and the Kafka-esque bind of people without ID cards. While this is unquestionably an issue film, it tackles its subject with intelligence and heart.” Variety.
