An evening with Dame Margaret Drabble celebrates the incredible life and distinguished career of the award-winning author, biographer and critic. Her novels include A Summer Bird-Cage, The Peppered Moth, The Sea Lady, the highly acclaimed The Pure Gold Baby and, most recently, The Dark Flood Rises. Dame Margaret has also written several screenplays, plays and short stories.

In conversation with Somerset Wildlife Trust’s President Stephen Moss, Dame Margaret will share stories of her life and writing, childhood memories of holidays spent in Somerset, and why the stunning Exmoor coastline around Minehead, where she now spends much of her time, plays an important role in the plots of her novels.

As this is a fundraising event for Somerset Wildlife Trust, as well as signing books supplied by Brendon Books of Taunton, Dame Margaret will share with the audience why it is important we look after the coastline here in Somerset and protect the precious species that also call it home.

All funds raised on the night will go towards Somerset Wildlife Trust’s Brilliant Coastal Appeal. To find out more about the Appeal please visit
