As imaginative as the creative process it documents, this documentary is a uniquely intimate journey through the inspiration, writing and recording of a PJ Harvey record.

Dorset-born indie singer-songwriter PJ Harvey teams up with award-winning photographer Seamus Murphy to explore first-hand the countries she wants to write about, joining him in Afghanistan, Kosovo, and Washington DC, before, back home, her collected impressions become poems, songs, then an album, which is recorded in an unprecedented art experiment in Somerset House, London. By capturing the immediacy of their encounters with the people and places they visit, Murphy shows the humanity at the heart of their work.
