Welcome to our Autumn 2017 Season
I’ve been very touched by the welcome I’ve received since I arrived here in March, and I’m so grateful for everyone’s support –thank you.
We had a great summer season here with our first outdoor cinema festival in partnership with the Alfred Gillett Trust (AGT) and some fantastic films. Just in-case you didn’t catch some of those films, we’ve put on some additional screenings (Letters from Baghdad & Mad to be Normal, 1 Sep; Maudie & A Man Called Ove, 2 Sep; and Dunkirk, 5 & 8 Sep).
I hope you’ll agree that we have an exciting bumper season ahead!
Within the film programme we have a series of curated Film Triptychs and an evening of two short film programmes. If you like a surprise or have a penchant for the unknown, then on Mondays -we are hosting Secret Cinema screenings.
Among the excellent live shows from ‘resident’ companies, there is Street Theatre’s One Man Two Guvnors, MSO’s Chopin 2nd Piano Concerto & Jack and the Beanstalk from GSMCS. Among our other live highlights, Poet John Davies presents an evening of spoken word, music and dance based on his latest poetry collection Jizz ; and art and science come together in Emily Brown’s contemporary dance piece Lina. Wells Cathedral School are back with a new production of Beauty and the Beast; Contralto singer Elizabeth Chivers and friends present a recital of classical pieces, guaranteed to make the hairs on the back of your neck stand on end; and Richard Shelton and The Denmark Street Big Band come to bring some glitz straight from London’s West End!
I hope there is something in here for you for the forthcoming autumn and winter evenings and weekends, and I hope very much to see you soon.
