Tell Us A Story

18 August 2014

We hope you’ll agree we have some excellent films coming in the new season here at Strode Theatre – several with very interesting titles. Inspiration struck one of our lovely patrons, leading him to write this wonderful story:

Once upon a time

– well, all good stories start with, ‘once upon a time’ – don’t they?

Once upon a time there lived a boy who, from an early age, wanted to be a Chef.  Since he was born in New Jersey, he hung out with the Jersey Boys.  However, all during his Boyhood, he kept out of trouble and never lost sight of his goal.

Life was good for him, but as happens with many of us after many years, his mental abilities failed.  He moved onto a retirement home, where he gave the carers many trying moments.  Indeed, in his dotage, he became The 100-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out Of A Window And Disappeared.  This happened during Two Days One Night.

He wanted Leave To Remain at large, because he wanted to join his friend Hector And The Search For Happiness.  But, alas, this was not to be.

He had also promised himself, Before I Go To Sleep, he would return to the place where The Grand Seduction occurred.  But he didn’t want anyone to know about that, so he employed Magic In The Moonlight to get there.

Unfortunately, he was followed, and his retirement home mates caught up with him at the Riot Club.  His Pride was hurt, so he made The Hundred Foot Journey back to his bed, where he dreamed of his long and happy life.

The end.
